We believe in and affirm the existence of the one and only
Triune God of the Bible, who created all things and who is Sovereign
over all His creation.
We believe and affirm the absolute authority of the Bible as
God's infallible, inerrant communication of truth to man. As
such it is man's rule of faith and practice.
We believe and affirm that man, alone among all life forms,
was made in the image of his Creator and was given the unique
capacity to enjoy the rich blessings of fellowship with God.
But man has turned away from the revealed will of God, intended
to secure such blessedness, and has chosen instead a self‑willed
way of life. As a result of this disobedience, which is sin,
all mankind exists in a fallen state of estrangement from God
and lives in a world corrupted and discordant. Out of His everlasting
love, God acted to redeem man by sending Jesus Christ, His only
Son, to remove the guilt and punishment attendant upon sin.
Jesus accomplished this salvation by His death on the Cross
in man's stead, bearing man's sin, and by His resurrection from
the dead through the power of God. In these events He was made
both Savior and Lord. The gospel, the good news about Jesus'
work, is the powerful and only means of bringing the grace of
God to men. As a man responds to the call of the gospel in
repentance and trusting, obedient faith he personally accepts
and appropriates the free gift of salvation, receiving forgiveness,
the indwelling Holy Spirit, and fellowship with God. His charge
thereafter is, by faith and in compliance with the teachings
of Holy Scripture, to surrender his will to God daily in holy
living, service, and worship, and so to glorify Him.
We believe and affirm that, inasmuch as every person bears
the likeness of God, all human life is sacred and inviolable.
Any attempt to measure the worth of a human being by using standards
such as "meaningful life," physical or mental health,
socioeconomic usefulness or productivity, or desirability to
others offends against the intrinsic, supreme value of a man
conferred by God. Since the Scriptures portray life as one
continuum beginning at conception, an individual is entitled
to the respect and protection of his life before birth as well
as afterwards. The intentional termination of innocent human
life at any stage is an act for which those responsible must
answer to God.
We believe and affirm the right and duty of every Christian
to stand for biblical truth and morality in this world and to
seek the well being of all persons. |
